Interview - 10 questions for 10th anniversary

ICodeFactory Partner of the decade

Milo Milovanović is our employee of the decade. During his 10 years of work in ICodeFactory we have passed so many things together. He has become one of the managing partners of the company.
Looking then and now, many things have changed in IT industry and Milo is the guy from the front row who can tell us how was to get through this long run.
This time, we would love to share his story with you, but the best way is to hear it from him personally. We asked him 10 questions for 10th anniversary. Read the answers below.

1. Can you tell us more about your role and background?
Well, during my master studies of Computer Science and Informatics at Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, I started my career at ICodeFactory as Junior .NET developer.
Currently, I am one of the leaders on a customer project that has been developed at ICodeFactory since the idea for the application was born.
Also, in the meantime I become one of the managing partners.

2. What do you like the most about working at ICodeFactory?
The crew and the project.
People at ICodeFactory share pretty much similar personal and professional values, so we easily understand each other. You know how it’s said, “Great minds think alike.” (laugh)
Being a part of a team and company that deliver a software solution implemented at some of the world’s best-known companies and which is used daily by hundreds of thousands of their employees.

Also, let’s not forget the care that ICodeFactory shows for people at their workplace, from healthcare, education and so on…

3. What is the favorite part about your job? What excites you most?
To me, being able to work on a project that is worldwide successful is what I praise a lot.
This project gives us the opportunity to learn everything about the process of delivering an enterprise solution used by end-users at multiple clients.
On the other hand, this project is innovative and constant improvement gives you freedom of suggesting and implementing solutions for specific situations – all constructive ideas are welcomed, and that is something I appreciate, but the thing that excites me the most is the well-done job.

4. What do you see as the biggest accomplishments since your start in 2009? Is that becoming a Team Leader or one of the Partners of ICodeFactory? Or maybe some project success?
All of that!
I already mentioned the excitement of working on such an interesting project and delivering solutions to some of the companies known worldwide.
For me, the biggest achievement is when the work is well done, when the project is working accurately, and users and stakeholders are satisfied with what we have done.
This is certainly in the primary place of accomplishments I have achieved.
Behind that I would point out that it is a great honor to be recognized as a team leader and a partner.  I guess I don’t even have to explain that further.

5. What's one thing you wish you knew before you started working here?
I can’t remember a specific thing. Surely, there are things that, if I had known them before, would help me solve a certain problem sooner or resolve some tricky situation better.
But let’s say I wish I dedicated much to my soft skills. Communication skills are important for every job, and not to mention how important is to stay organized, focused, on time and good team player.

6. How would you describe the work ethic?
I think before anything else you must be respectful for clients and colleagues. Without that, you will not last on a project or in a company, no matter what other qualities you might have.
Of course, you have to be professional in every sense that matters to an employer or a client, i.e. in terms of quality of work, taking responsibility for your tasks and duties, respecting the project plans and deadlines…
For strong work ethic you have to find something that motivates you, dedicate to that, plan well and stay in that direction.

7. What is the commitment to professional development by your opinion?

  • Follow the evolution of technology as much as you can.
  • Always looking for best possible solutions.
  • Readiness to learn and self-improve constantly through the work and outside of the workplace.

8. What has been your the biggest “lesson learned“ in this 10 years?
I’m not sure I can remember the biggest “lesson learned”, but I learned that good things never come fast and easy.
You have to work hard, invest in yourself for a long time and take some risks. It is good to have an open mind to new things. There is a power of failure same as power of success, when you know you have tried something, saw the mistakes from your experience and learned not to repeat them.
My “lesson learned” is not to give up from new ideas.

9. If there's one thing you could improve, what would it be?
My time management.

10. What is your the biggest hope for the next decade in ICodeFactory? In what ways do you expect to grow?
As every software developer, I will say I would like to learn new technologies and work on interesting project(s).
My gut says that the constant growth of ICodeFactory will set some new challenges in front of all the employees, which will result in building or improving other, non-technical skills and even shape our personalities further.
The market is changing each year in a better way and ICodeFactory will definitely increase its market share, both on local and worldwide level.

Thank you Milo for sharing your story and experience with us.

We are looking forward to the next decade together.

On the threshold of a New Year 2020.

New Year is the perfect time to spread good energy and cheers. Every year in Holiday season we give a moment of thought to the achievements we made in this year.

Our focus on learning and developing of competences has not changed.

We named 2017 – Year of education, but 2019 was the best by now. During this year our team has been all around the World. The increasing popularity of Azure services has moved our Microsoft Certified Trainers through companies of all sizes, making them ready to move their businesses to cloud services.

One of the things we have raised to a higher level this year and that makes us proud is our conference. In June we organized our favorite pre-summer event named ICodeFerence. For the first time since we organize this event, we had international experts as our guests and speakers. Not only we learnt about software development, but also about business perspective of developing enterprise software products.

Let’s not forget that we expanded our workplace. Our modern and cozy office at Master Centre is now more commodious, allowing our business and teams to grow together.

We continued to support young talents at the beginning of their careers with our Microsoft training for students and graduates.

No matter what we do, training, software development or consulting, we learn constantly.

We decided to set our focus for 2020 to empower everyone in team to strengthen existing and build new competencies. Our environment is changing fast, and we are ready for challenges that come.

What’s your plan for 2020? Think twice, code once!

ICodeFactory wishes you Merry Christmas and wonderful and prosperous New Year! See you in 2020!

Data Science as business decisioning tool

Multidisciplinary field with a focus on predicting future outcomes while using past and current data is called Data Science. In order to make better decisions in the future, man utilized data with combination of scientific methodologies, processes and algoritms and implemented Data Science.

Mathematical formulas were out there for decades, but now, when we are flooded with so much data, it was normal to quantify those unstructured data and translate them into useful information. And that is how we included data science in business.

Using cuting-edge technology we have evolved data processing so we can use those information to change the direction of current work or organize business in a better way. It can help with customer targeting, changing internal processes or speed up selection process.

With our partners, we have developed an AI driven product for knowledge management. Combined effort of top software development experts, university professors and innovators have brought us to new algorithms in Machine Learning.

The main challenge with implementing Data Science in companies is the expensiveness in identification and interpreting large amounts of data as it can be complex and time-consuming. It’s surely worth the effort since the results contributes to competitive advantages like new opportunities or new strategies which are dominance benefits of any organization.

The Data Science team is usually consisted of computer engineers, mathematicians, statistics and domain experts from the field that is processed.

ICodeFactory, Big Data, Guest lecture, Implement Your Vision

Wednesday is our time for ICodeFactory learning sessions. Last week we hosted a guest lecturer to tell us more about award winning application of artificial intelligence in agriculture. This solution combines results from a number of scientific fields and it is based on the development of meteorological indicators with advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms. Amazing, right?

Data-driven decisions are already part of our lives, whether we are aware of it or not.

In the future we will meet much more data science technologies and tools that will lead us to better results, products or services. Stay tuned.
